Alexandra Smyser, ESQ.

Ali received her undergraduate degree in Film Studies from the University of California, Irvine.  She worked in the entertainment industry for ten years before changing career paths and attending law school.  Alexandra graduated magna cum laude from Southwestern Law School in May 2008.  While at Southwestern she received the Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction Award [highest grade in class] in several courses, including Estate and Gift Tax, Property, Civil Procedure and Legal Research and Writing.  During law school, Alexandra interned for the Honorable Dean D. Pregerson of the United States District Court.

After having lost both of her parents, Alexandra enrolled at Southwestern intending to pursue a career as an estate planning attorney.  Alexandra saw that a well-prepared estate plan does not soften the blow of losing a loved one, but it can alleviate much of the stress felt by grieving families.

As the mother of young children, she felt the satisfaction of knowing that her children will be taken care of as a result of her own estate planning and is passionate about helping others plan for their family’s future.  Alexandra also has recently had to personally navigate the treacherous terrain of long-term elder care for one of her aging relatives.  Ali is a sought after speaker in the local community to educate groups of the importance of proper estate planning.

Ali is an active member of the California State Bar, the Los Angeles County Bar and California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform (CANHR).

Ali grew up in Glendale and is active with numerous community organizations, including, Verdugo Hills Hospital Women’s Counsel, Salem Lutheran Church and Salem Lutheran School Parent-Teacher Organization, and is a Board Member of ASTER (Assisting Seniors Through Enhanced Resources).  Ali lives in Pasadena with her two children and loves being involved in their school and extra curricular activities.
